Boosting Agricultural Irrigation Efficiency! Classification of Perforated Water Pipe Sizes Facilitates Agricultural Development

March 11, 2024

With the continuous advancement of agricultural modernization, the efficiency of irrigation systems and water conservation awareness has become increasingly important. Recently, experts have proposed a new scheme for classifying the sizes of perforated water pipes used in agricultural irrigation, aiming to improve the efficiency of irrigation systems, reduce water wastage, and facilitate agricultural development.

The scheme classifies perforated water pipes into three size categories: small, medium, and large. Small perforated water pipes are suitable for irrigation in small-scale farmlands or gardens, typically with diameters ranging from 1 to 2 centimeters. Medium perforated water pipes are suitable for medium-sized farmlands, with diameters ranging from 2 to 4 centimeters, capable of meeting the irrigation needs of most crops. Meanwhile, large perforated water pipes are primarily used for irrigation in large-scale farmlands, with diameters ranging from 4 to 6 centimeters, providing water sources quickly and evenly for vast farmlands.

Experts point out that this size classification scheme helps farmers select suitable perforated water pipes based on their own farmland scale and crop water requirements, thereby maximizing irrigation efficiency and reducing water wastage. In addition, perforated water pipes of different sizes can adapt to different soil types and topographies, enhancing the applicability and flexibility of irrigation systems.

The agricultural department stated that it will actively promote this classification scheme for perforated water pipe sizes, assisting farmers in better utilizing irrigation systems through training and technical guidance, improving the utilization rate of farmland water resources, and achieving the sustainable development goals of agricultural production.
